While new dwelling houses and cultural and leisure centres are built one after another in cities and rural villages across the country, islands are also undergoing sea changes. Wihwa Island on the northwestern tip of the country had an auspicious event. The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, the largest of its kind in the DPRK, is under construction on the island which suffered flood damage last year. Following the construction of modern dwelling houses on the shore of the Amnok River, permanent embankments are being built on the island. The innovative development is filling the local residents with deep emotion and joy. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
