Young people in Pyongyang volunteered to work on major economic fronts to which the Workers' Party of Korea calls. Members of the youth league of the Mangyongdae District Floricultural Station and the extracurricular sports school in Taedonggang District decided to work at the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm. Those in Mangyongdae, Sosong, Phyongchon, Taesong, Tongdaewon, Hyongjesan, Sadong and Sunan districts also volunteered as workers at construction brigades and road equipment management stations. Attending the congratulatory meeting held on October 31 were officials of the youth league, youth and students. The certificates of volunteering were awarded to the volunteers and a congratulatory address was made to be followed by speeches. An art performance was given to congratulate the volunteers. Youth and students encouraged the volunteers leaving for their new posts, giving them bouquets. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
