Rice harvesting begins in DPRK

Rice harvesting began in the rural areas of the DPRK. South Hwanghae Province has set a proper order of harvesting and achieved good results from the beginning. Officials and agricultural workers in Anak, Jaeryong and Pongchon counties are harvesting crops as soon as they get ripe, taking into account the ripening rate and other conditions according to fields, plots and varieties. Farms in North Hwanghae Province are concentrating all efforts and means on rice harvesting after overhauling farm machines and repairing threshing and grain drying grounds. Agricultural workers in Jongphyong, Kumya and Kowon counties of South Hamgyong Province are carrying out their daily plans, carefully organizing the works of each process in the harvest. Officials and agricultural workers in South Phyongan Province, Kangwon Province and Kaesong Municipality are harvesting rice while taking measures to increase the proportion of mechanization and prevent the drop in rice yields.
