The respectedComrade Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to U Myong Ik, a man of wartime merit living in Block 7, Building 15 at the third stage in the Hwasong area of Pyongyang, on his 100th birthday. The old man received the birthday spread amid the congratulations of officials of the Hwasong District Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and neighbours. He was greatly grateful and excited by the benevolence of the Party which provided him with a modern house free of charge and showed the great love to be handed down through generations. The WPK put him forward as a member of the victorious wartime generation as he did good things for society and the collective and brought up his children well. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
