The Eleventh Meeting of the International Kim Il Sung Prize Council and the Second Meeting of the International Kim Jong Il Prize Council were held in Pyongyang on October 11. Present there were Mukesh Sharma, secretary general of the International Kim Il Sung Prize Council and the International Kim Jong Il Prize Council, their directors and Kim Un Je, vice-chairperson of the Korean Association of Social Scientists. The meetings reviewed the work of the councils over the past period, indicated directions for future action and by-elected some directors of the councils. The meetings discussed and decided on the issue of awarding the International Kim Jong Il Prize to figures who made special contributions to the cause of global independence on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
