The Venezuelan permanent representative to the United Nations demanded on September 19 that the UN Security Council immediately stop the US’ military operations in the Caribbean Sea. The US is deploying huge armed forces while dispatching a nuclear-powered submarine to the sea to make the tension in the region reach a more dangerous phase, he said, branding it as an act against the UN Charter. He called on the UNSC to denounce the reckless military moves of the US posing a threat to the security of Venezuela and its surrounding region.
