Samhung Middle School greeted the 80th anniversary of its establishment.
It was established in November 1945 as the first school for sons and daughters of the Korean people after Korea’s liberation from the Japanese military occupation on August 15 1945.
According to Principal Jon Ji Sun, President Kim Il Sung personally fixed the site of the school and named it “Samhung Middle School”.
Samhungmeans that the school should help the country be prosperous by training a large number of talents who are knowledgeable, morally sound and physically strong.
The school has since etched remarkable achievements in its history true to the meaning of its name.
It produced five heroes and many teachers honoured with high state commendations. It has achieved greater development in recent years.
In the course of developing and introducing new teaching methods, a considerable improvement has been achieved in the teachers’ qualifications and remarkable progress in the students’ scholarly performance.
Many of the teachers won the title of October 8 Model Teacher and students won different national academic contests and sports games.
The school has also channelled efforts into the education of students and attached importance to cultivating love for their hometown, school and country among the students.
This year graduates of the school vyingly volunteered to join the army and work at major sectors of socialist construction.
Thanks to the benefits granted by the state, classrooms and labs were refurbished and the playground equipment upgraded, further improving the educational conditions and environment.
The school, which has developed as a model unit in preparing students as persons who are knowledgeable, morally sound and physically strong since Korea’s liberation, will continue to etch proud achievements in its history, the principal said.
