New zoo built in South Phyongan Province

South Phyongan Province has newly built the Phyongsong Zoo. The zoo covering an area of over 20 000 square metres has several animal houses and service buildings. The construction of the zoo has provided the people in the province with another base for cultural and leisure activities. The inaugural ceremony of the zoo took place on December 2. Present there were Ri Kyong Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, builders, working people in the city and employees of the zoo. Ri Song Bom, chairman of the provincial people's committee, made an inaugural address. After the ceremony, the participants looked round various places of the zoo. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
